Stomp Box Developer Board

This is a development board I created for my own prototyping of guitar effects and accessories. I found it to be so useful, I started offering the boards for sale (read about the original board on this blog post.) Each was hand made by me, and since the demand has risen so much, I decided to productize it to reduce build time, cost, and add more flexibility!

Stomp Box Developer removes all the friction from getting an idea together quickly – the power, audio and switching are ready to go. It’s portable with an onboard battery, and robust enough to move from the bench to the floor to be stomped on.

Designed for ease of getting ideas down fast, the board features:

  • Huge, highest quality 2490 point breadboard from BusBoard Prototype Systems (BPS)
  • Robust Alpha 3PDT switch for true audio bypass with grounded enclosure
  • Clean audio in and out – power switched with IN jack, preserving the battery life
  • LED has a filtered RC power supply to ensure pop-free switching
  • 4 Layer PCBs – in the case and breadboard connector for best power distribution and signal integrity
  • Power supply can be 9V (onboard battery holder) or external (via DC jack) up to 18V
  • Reverse polarity protected using a high power PFET for minimal voltage loss
  • Mid-rail (nominally 4.5V) or 9V available on all power strips – color coded shorting links included!
  • Color-coded test points on all power rails, audio input and output for ease of debug and analysis
  • 2.1mm DC jack and 9V battery power (DC jack overrides battery when plugged in)
  • Robust physical construction, rubber feet – won’t slip!
