Inspiration & Art
Klone Ranger™ is the second in our Art Series of vintage clones. An expanded overdrive pedal with clean boost, great tone control, and lots of heart. With three clipping options, it’s like having three overdrive pedals in one.
Original artwork by Maria.

Tone & Controls
Klone Ranger has the familiar overdrive control pots – Gain, Tone and Level – to which we have added an additional toggle switch to select one of three clipping circuits, labeled S, D and A.
We stayed true to the classic with some hard to find 1N34A Germanium diodes, but also added two silicon diode clipping stage options for alternative tones, harmonics generation and clipping headroom.
Clipping options:
S – Single germanium diodes in each direction (vintage overdrive circuit)
D – Dual silicon diodes in each direction (huge signal amplitude clipping)
A – Asymmetric silicon diodes – dual one way / single the other (harmonic variations on the above)
Gain
The gain control can take advantage of the different range spans offered by the three diode clipping circuits – and create unique tonal variations that different sound sources can ‘squeeze’ through the clipping stages.
Tone
Tone emphasizes bass frequencies (counter clockwise) or brightens the treble mids / highs (clockwise).
Level
Level is used to set the output volume level. With even a relatively low value of Gain, higher Level settings can be used to drive your amplifier creating clean boost that Tone can finesse.

Functional Details
Klone Ranger features the buffered bypass of the original Klon, with signal dampening, coupled with a pop-free, clean, modern design, but incorporates some of the components found in the hard-to-find, expensive original.
Power can be stand-alone with a 9V battery, or via the DC jack.
The circuit is powered-on when an input jack is inserted, and the DC power jack disconnects the internal battery when a plug is inserted.
Proudly designed, hand assembled, screen printed and tested in house, in California, USA.

Sounds & Demos
Great review and comparison with the KTR from Sounds Terrible – I’ve had a number of people tell me the ‘A’ setting on this and the Hi Scream pedals is their favorite setting!!
